CRB: What is this ? Do I need one?

Disclosure and Barring Service commonly known as DBS.  The document that is provided by DBS is also commonly known as a DBS.

What is a DBS?

  •  DBS is simply a police check.

What does a DBS tell an employer?

  •  The DBS will inform the employer of your eligibility to work with children and if applicable vulnerable adults
  •  The DBS will also have a Disclosure No and date. It will also contain your personal details (age, full name, address...) and      the name and company address of the Countersignatory (the person who requested your DBS)

How long does a DBS last for?

(a) do not have a break of service that is longer than 3 months
(b) stay working with the same school / agency
(c) have the same details and circumstances

Do I need a DBS?  

  • Yes it must be a current Enhanced Disclosure
