About the Role
At term time teachers we're seeking a passionate and committed Teacher to join our specialist education provision, supporting children and young people with epilepsy, autism, and a range of complex learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by delivering high-quality teaching, learning and pastoral care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
You will be responsible for the education and wellbeing of a class group, planning and delivering personalised learning programmes that enable every learner to achieve their full potential. Working closely with support staff, families and external professionals, you will contribute to a holistic, learner-centred approach that places young people at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching aligned with the National Curriculum and personalised EHCP targets
- Plan, assess and evaluate learning using baseline assessments, schemes of work and session plans
- Provide outstanding pastoral care and support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Monitor, record and report on learner progress, including annual reviews and termly reports
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and other professionals to deliver a transdisciplinary approach
- Create and adapt resources to ensure learning is accessible, engaging and safe
- Support and guide support staff to effectively facilitate learning and monitor progress
- Maintain strong communication with families and stakeholders
- Participate in professional development, research and sharing of best practice
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies at all times
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient teacher who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to inclusive education.
Essential:
- Degree qualified with QTS (or equivalent)
- Recent teaching experience in a special or mainstream school
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and assessment requirements
- Excellent classroom practice with experience of personalised learning
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school and class team
- Strong communication skills with young people, families and professionals
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable:
- Experience teaching learners with epilepsy, autism, severe learning difficulties or complex needs
- Specialist skills in SEN or neurological conditions
- Experience of line managing or directing support staff
- Knowledge of specialist learning approaches (e.g. SPELL framework)
