About the school:
A specialist SEMH setting is seeking a resilient and adaptable English Teacher to join its dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
The school provides a therapeutic, nurturing environment for students who have experienced trauma and are unable to access mainstream education. Staff play a vital role in rebuilding confidence, fostering positive relationships, and supporting both the academic and personal development of every student.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and creative English lessons, inspiring a love of learning through a flexible, hands-on approach. A secure understanding of English Language teaching is essential, along with familiarity with (or willingness to learn) GCSE and Functional Skills specifications.
While experience within a SEND or SEMH setting would be advantageous, it is not essential for someone with the right mindset, resilience, and commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.
The school places equal importance on social development and life skills as it does on academic achievement, with a strong focus on preparing students for reintegration into education and adulthood.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in English
Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a positive approach to challenge
Be committed to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs
Have the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Be enthusiastic about creative and personalised teaching approaches

This is a unique opportunity to join a committed and supportive team in a setting where no two days are the same, and where staff are united by a shared goal of transforming young people's lives through education.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and appropriate pre-employment screening.
